About me

Robert studied musical theatre at the Performing Arts Studios Vienna. After graduating, engagements took him to the Raimund Theater Vienna, Theater der Jugend Vienna, Graz Opera, Volkstheater Vienna and the off-theatre scene in Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Bolzano and Ljubljana.

In the last fifteen years, he has increasingly changed fields and is now mainly active as a director, producer and author. Robert is considered a specialist for first and world premieres and has already brought several new plays to Austria, including The Timekeepers, Hypnosis, Brothers of Thunder, Apartment 3A, as well as the jazz opera Hochgeschätztes Tiefparterre by Gerald Schuller & Harald Friedl. He directed the solo chamber chanson Endlich Allein by and with Mai Horlemann at the Volksbühne Berlin, as well as the off-Broadway hit STRAIGHT as the German-language premiere at the Schmidt Theater in Hamburg and guest performances in Berlin.

Robert’s most recent directing credits include the bilingual version of The Suitcase in 2023 for Open House Theatre, the English version in 2024 for Vienna’s English Theatre, as well as the Austrian and German premiere of the chamber musical BEFORE/AFTER by Stuart Mathew Price and Timothy Knapman at Theater Spielraum, for which he is also responsible for the German translation.

His last direction was The Story of My Life, a Broadway chamber musical by Neil Bartram & Brian Hill, at Theater Spielraum in Vienna, which was just revived at the same venue. In spring 2026 he directed the Austrian premiere of Andrew Lippa’s two-person musical John & Jen.
